Susan suggested Korean..... well, never try never know (ahem, but knowing me, who dislike Japanese food, I dunno how I'll appreciate Korean either ), anyway it was nice catching up with the girls.

Esp interesting to hang out at the Jazz festival, although I hardly could listen to the performance, as I was busy kaypoh-ing about vocal training with the 'music teacher' Yee Ting. Yep, didn't know she could coach people in vocal as well! Wah... grade 8 in vocal... dont pray pray!

One day must see / hear our friend perform singing solo, the classical way with or without accompaniment. sei mei... Oh she claims she's still single *hint*hint wait till she found out what I'm posting about her here! She'll probably not know this ever knowing this busy music teacher.

really nice to cath up with frens! n that nite got two YT hehhehe Mon 8-Aug-2005 12:05

~ BISDS Student Trip to Gua Tempurung & Sg. Klah Hotspring ~

Food committee loading the water
gathering outside waiting board the bus
Bro. Ronnie and his troop posing
View all 48 photos...
As a first timer to this Gua Tempurung it was well worthy for me, and probably for the Sunday School. The kids were totally awestrucked by the fascinating sight of a dark cave lighted up only with a few tungsten lamps by the stairway. Our guide who lead the Group A troop (with the youngest kids) was a young Malay boy who was wittily narrating the unique formation of stalactite and stalagmite. (fuiyoh, i need to search dictionary in order to spell that!! ) I really wonder how well those 5-year-old really grasp the idea of these rock formation. The kids were just squeezing their partner's hand, while holding a torchlight, and mindfully watching their steps so as not to fall.

It was a fascinating sight for me, not only of the wonderful cave, but also the excitement of the kids! Just too bad, my camera's build-in flash is not powerful enough to shoot further range, to show the interior landscape view of this dark cave. The most I got is close up shots of the wall.

The journey to Sungai Klah was testing my maturity level, as I was so tempted to bug sis. Emily "are we there yet?!" Brrr... very hungry indeed. And you know how cranky I get if I'm tired or hungry. Doh...

Finally, upon reaching Sg. Klah Hotspring, the walking route to reach the eating place was really endless! Atfirst I was helping to carry one carton of mineral water from the bus to the entrace, then bro. Edward came to take over. Couldn't be more thankful for that, cos I really dread carrying heavy stuff, esp when the stomach is going to burst and my camera is dangling on my shoulder!

I dragged myself all the way to the eating place, and like a child (worst than a child) was so wishing there's food that could be fed right into my mouth! But I just held on, kids get the first food. I'm just secretly hoping nobody would ask me to go out again to collect the remaining of the food! Yeah.. somehow some of the packets of food is still outside... bummer...

Cut the bullshit, I'd like to thank Sis. Emily who happen to walk pass me, holding a packet of burger and fries in her hand, she asked "you eat already?" "Not yet". "Ok give you this on, since you're hungry, you eat first lah". Awww...

Doh... just say thank you, I droped on the ground. There was abit of problem with the food, because it was prepared with chilli sauce, and the kids couldn't take it! When I helped clean up the area, I found so many burger bitten by a small mouth. So wasteful. I felt the wave of bad karma (I dunno in me, or for the kids) for throwing away the food like that. For a moment I was so hungry I could eat anything, but after eating, I helped throw away so many wasted food .

The kids were so filled with energy, they couldn't careless to jump straight into the hotspring swimming pool! I took my own sweet time, trying to catch a glimpse of all the activities going on. Some older teachers were soaking their feet at the higher temperature soaking pool, a few went to 'boil egg', while all the kids were splashing themselves like they were in Sunway Lagoon.

I forgot how kids are kids, I took off my sandals, went to dip my feet at the pool, trying to capture the happy kids faces when suddenly, the kids splashed water to another teacher who ran behind me! Geezz... I have to get away from the water!

At one moment I was having ice-cream, while soaking my feet at one of the hottest temperature pool with other teachers, seated directly under the sun, and trying to 'protect' my camera!! Unimaginable.

The kids started cleaning up, and everyone began packing to leave for the buses. All well ends well.

Yeah! mj back with her new camera so i can see a lot of photos liao!!

nice trip! i like spring water!

It was so funny the day when my bro 'brought' this poodle home, temporary safe-keeping it until the right owner claims it back. The ears were dyed pink in colour although it's a male dog! Anyway, since nobody knows its name, my dad was simply 'yelling' dog names to see if the dog acknowledge any of them.... not going to list out all the dog names he yelled, but in the end we settled for "Rex"... or basically just calling it "poodle"

Anyway, they sent it for scanning at the vet, but found no chip. They'd paste posters in the vet, still nobody came even after a week... so somebody is going to claim 'guardian' to this dog eventually.. and that wont be our family

The dog is tooo tame to fit in our family culture! Actually, I wonder how would any owner be able to claim the dog back, since there's no tag nor chip to identify!

Cute doggy! Thu 16-Jun-2005 04:56

~ 23IDC ~ Day 4 ~ Farewell ~

1st & last meal on the CHAIRS! What a luxury :)
Bro. Oh giving his talk
on the wheelchair
View all 6 photos...
Morning, dont ask what time I woke up By the time I woke up for breakfast, the invited speaker Bro. Oh Kim Leng arrived with his friends! He came down all the way from Melaka in the morning... I know I've been taught a great lesson on 'hosting guest' like a Dhamma speaker, so I went to serve breakfast to them, before the talk starts.

It was empowering, it was inspiring. Bro. Oh was even funnier than Uncle Vijaya! Well that's just my viewpoint, cos its not very often I get to listen to Bro. Oh moving yet light-hearted talk, esp for the Malaysians lah, when he used Malay and Hokkien for his jokes. Pity the Thais, but everyone seemed laughing along altogether .

Then we have D2Y choir to perform some acappella before we finally wind down the camp eventually. When I made the announcement "the camp is official closed" -- I breath a sigh of relief, I virtually dropped down on the ground.. flat. well, then came the desire to go round hugging everyone! Well, thought I wanna go give all the committees a hug - some just went missing. Anyway, it was sweet farewell for the Thais and Malaysians of course.

A bus came to pick up the group from YBAT to return to Penang, then another bus came later to pick up the DKF group. Parents, siblings came to pick up the Malaysians. Some stayed back to help committees to pack up the hall before we all left SJBA with a heavy heart.

*When will I see you again?!

~ 23IDC ~ Day 3 ~

"Reach" for the stars!
P and Loong and 3 gals
the pose
View all 18 photos...
Day 3 started with us the committees and facilitators leading the pack with Dance-along Incovar style! ok lah have to thank sis. SeenLan and gang for dropping by at night to teach us the dance movement to "Reach" by SClub7 and "I Lay My Love On You" by Westlife. It keeps the spirit alive to move everybody to dance along together with some powerful songs .

Workshop 3 saw Fred & Aaron telling stories . In the afternoon we had the most loud applauding performance by who else ::I-gemz:: They almost brought down the SJBA Shrine Hall with the never ending applause! Thanks to the whole bunch who turned up. Later in the afternoon, we had Bro. Tan Ho Soon with the "Rewrite Your Destiny" talk. From then on, it was silent-mode for all, as we geared participants for the highlight of the highlight! Well, you just have to 'hear' it to believe it yourself. This time we did it rather differently, not without the major support from all the helpers and facilitators. A huge stage setting up was taking place in the out-of-bound area and the highlight ended on a very inspiring note for everyone Just wish that participants will relish and appreciate the experience unfolded for them.

Then night ended ... actually I dunno what time it had ended because I was sooo sleepy by the latest event which was way past midnight... participants continued yakking on...

It was a really tiring day for me, esp being programmer of the day but kinda sweet and rewarding , Aaaaaahhhhh........

~ 23IDC ~ Day 2 ~

one for the mess we all caused... no thanks... to urrrghhh!!!
opps?
Yohh... so playful
View all 12 photos...
The most happening day! From morning station games vis-a-vis waterballoon scare, to upclose with Sumi Loundon, not from London but from Boston. Then everyone immediately went down for Dana with Bhante Aggacitta, followed by this cool Thai dance-along session . Then there's talk by Bhante followed by workshop2. In the evening we had this memorable offering session, then for the 1st time we had a different style of "Metta" meditation session conducted by Bro. Hor Tuck Loon. Heard that it was creepy to stare at another person for so long - but that sounds fun to me!

Well... you just wouldn't wanna miss out this eventful Day 2 of the 23idc

Well, MJ, Sze Huey n Hooi Chia, you had fun, doing meritorius deeds n have FUN Hope I was there!Nice n fun activities in the IDC! TO all the committees, congrats n can share some tips with me for helping the Curtin Buddhist Scty to lure more members. Currently I think their membership is less than 20 with a less than 10 members turn up for their wesak day gathering. to me, yeah, is quite boring but i really run out of ideas.camps maybe not cos mos of them busy with assignments, hymns.. no people to teach except from cds n no accompanying intrument n i m not musically inclined. so, most of the time dhamma talk from their advisor. ~ 23rd Incovar Dhamma Camp ~ Day 1 ~

something new for registration!
ahem, print your palm onto long piece of paper...
whoala... opening ceremony!
View all 6 photos...
If the last camp was the sweetest camp, then this time, it's the most motivating or inspiring camp! That's just my 2 cents, as I see the smiley happy faces of the participants, and hearing compliments from participants on how inspired they were with our activities! Even the talks were NOT boring and infact mind stimulating for most of them

I just wish that I was there for Metta 2 something new. But I'm thankful to have all the invited guests to grace to camp from 1st day to the last day. *drumroll we have Uncle Vijaya, Datuk Dr. Wee, Bhante Aggacitta, Sumi Loundon, Bro. Tan Ho Soon, Bro. Hor Tuck Loon, and finally Bro. Oh Kim Leng!

In chinese i like to use this phrase .. sei mei...

IXP?! Superb.. even I myself was taken aback. Took quite awhile for me to swallow my packet rice of dinner, while playing the sound effects through the dark hall.

All in all, just amazingly yau yeng... I wish I was a participant!

Aren't you goin to share some photo with those unfortunate one like me who have never attended a IDC since the 16th? Looks like is another successful IDC.Hope I was there... nyway to the IDC comms, congrats!ny plans og organising it for at least once in Borneo, ie kuching, KK or even Miri? Fri 10-Jun-2005 09:36
