~ Hong Kong ~ to visit the big Buddha (Lantau Island)
|
|
the hostel guy Jacky refer to Po Lin Monestary as "the Budha" cos its really that huge sitting right on top of the hill and the only way to reach the top is climbing up the many steps (no i didn't count) but it's as high as the stairs in Batu Caves, which is I'm ok with.. so hiked up alone I went with my tripod.. how else could I take pictures of myself posing with big Buddha
just as a friend back home has advised, to see the journey along the way to reach the Buddha. it was quite amazing to have the hills and sea all into one picture... very peaceful journey to and fro the Buddha & the bus station.

~ Trip to Melaka with INCOVAR ~
|
|
It's the PCIC - Programmers Creative & Innovative Camp weekend! and this time we went down to the historical town of Melaka gate crashing Pevin's house Thanks to the Yeo family for allowing us to fit in the 17 of us into 3 bedrooms
It was the first time, the song ...we inspire... was taught by Nee Sern & Swee Feng till now the chorus is still ringing in my head! while the composer went back earlier, the T-shirt designer needed the chorus of the lyrics to be inserted to the design... it was crazy of Jo got crooky-minded with the dots.
I had a "relaxing" time sleeping, to the soft guitar strum and the melodious music collection during the 'rest & relax' session.. maybe being mindful of serene relaxation is an art!
WE INSPIRE
We come together with a common dream
To share the teaching of the Lord Supreme
In a more contemporary way
To all the leaders of today
And so we welcome everybody in
And turn our differences to similarities
With the Dharma as our Wonderous Guide
Our Family's nurtured in his Light
REFRAIN:
Reaching out is our specialty
Celebrating our diversity
We turn our dreams into reality!
CHORUS:
We inspire
We're the fire
We're the spirit of youth's life
And we'll strive to cease desire
We inspire
The beauty of Lord Buddha's light
We're the vibrance that inspires all
We're original and we enthrall
Fun and music and the IXP
Share the Dharma for all to see
Repeat REFRAIN, CHORUS
We inspire
The beauty of Lord Buddha's light

~ Trip to Kuantan with BGF ~
|
|
On the weekend of 8th October, a group of 21 of BGF members embarked on an outreach trip to Kuantan Buddhist Association. Upon arrival at a place called Pasir Putih, we were warmly greeted by KBA vice president, who treated us with a very sumptious lunch!
After lunch, we adjourned straight to KBA, the huge oriental-design temple were caught in sight even from afar! As we settled into our respective 'hotel rooms', we headed to the temple's classroom floor for sharing amongst BGF members and KBA committees. Datuk Dr. Victor Wee first presented an introduction of BGF, then bro Chee Onn introduced what INCOVAR is. The concern of KBA is the lack of manpower obstacle. The concept of INCOVAR seems very well received and the notion of attracting youth is indeed a high priority to KBA.
It was inspiring to learn about how the president of KBA is overwhelmed by the government's effort of sending national service trainees to temples or churches, in an effort to instil some values beneficial to the young school leavers.
During the evening, BGF was given the opportunity to conduct a musical Puja, with quite a good crowd. We were fortunate to have Datuk, introduced as founder of the Wayfarers to lead the hymn singing session together with bro. Nee Sern and bro. Wee Fah from I-Gemz, who had their fair share of limelight.
Members of KBA were so entralled by the musical performances by members of BGF, that the crowd returned for more singing the following morning, conducted in the beautiful garden. We were literally singing for the dewa up on the trees as well! The Sunday school students of KBA were most fancinated by some of their most frequently sung songs, taken from the pink hymn book.
On that fine morning, we had the pleasure to share the pavillion, with a group of Chinese classical musicians, rendering traditional Chinese songs, using the chinese classical instruments! The setting of pavillion under the tall shady trees, with the view of the lake and the rocky hill as the backdrop, is truly a sight to behold.
The surrounding scenary of this temple reminds people of the view of Guilin in China! We are truly thankful for the great hospitality of KBA committees. Even the vegetarian food prepared by the kitchen aunty tasted so good. As much as KBA is overwhelmed by the presense of Datuk Dr. victor Wee and his members from BGF who came all the way to pay them a visit, we too were touched by their kindness and sincerity. A tale of how a big temple of simple small town, can be so well maintained. Truly impressive.
